During the Premier League era English football statistics show only four winners of the premiership title Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal (view Arsenal stats) and Chelsea. During this era Burnley have yet to even appear in the Premiership however they won the 1959-60 English Football League Division 1 title winning it by a single point. Wolverhampton Wanders the winners of the 1957-1958 English Football League 1 Division and the 1958/59 English Football League 1st Division came second. The manager Harry Potts led Burnley to the title, as it stand their last top flight football title. Potts team included the two Jimmy's - Adamson and Mcllory, the two main protagonists of the Burnley midfield.
The English Football Writers Association player of the 1959-60 season was the Wolverhampton Wanders player Bill Slater. Slater played centre half however he was equally adept at playing in every position on the pitch other than Goalkeeper. The 1959 English Football League Division One leading scorer was Manchester United striker Dennis Viollet who had survived the Munich Air Disaster survivor. Viollet interrupted Jimmy Greave's run as leading goal scorer. He scored 32 League Goals during the 1959-1960 Football League Division 1 season. Jimmy Greaves managed to score 29 during the 1959-1960 Football season.
